A snowman by any other name…

Happy New Year! As everyone in my family is still sleeping off the festivities of the last week, I find myself awake and in possession of something really rare: spare time. So, I thought I’d update the blog. It’s been a while, I know, and I’m sorry for that. Being a new mom is as life-changing as they say it is. But today I have a few moments to tell you about an amazing creature I encountered recently—a yeti.
That’s right, the good old, abominable snowman.
Every mountainous region on Terra seems to have stories about hairy, primeval, humanoid creatures who only get photographed with blurry lenses. Sometimes, these creatures are shy and docile. Sometimes they are aggressive and warrior-like.
Yeti is the term for the Tibetan version of this mountain man-ape. In North America, the most famous man-ape is the Sasquatch. Or at least that was before the Flood Wars. Since then the berserkers, found all over the Adirondack Mountains, have entered the modern lore, mostly as vicious bandits that rove in gangs, attacking homesteaders.
The Barbegazi are said to dwell in the snowy peaks of the Alps, and the Chuchuna ranges through Siberia.
So it’s safe to say that most of these creatures have been around for centuries, long before the first cracks in the veil brought the berserkers and other new species. Where did they come from? Are they a genetic mutation of homo sapiens? Perhaps we’ll never know.
As I mentioned, I encountered a yeti in the Inbetween just before Christmas. He gave us a good scare, but thinking back on the encounter, perhaps we startled him as much as he startled us. He didn’t put up much of a fight. Poor guy. He was probably out for an evening stroll in the snow when he stumbled over our camp.
If you have any yeti/Bigfoot/Barbegazi stories, I’d love to hear them.

Have you ever heard of the Yowie from Aus? Glowing red eyes, big hairy feet. He’s a tough bugger. Tastes good on the barbie though.
